Carlson School Study on Uptown Revitalization
I applaud and congratulate the students at the Carlson School of Management for their outstanding and forward-thinking research on revitalizing the Uptown neighborhood. Their work highlights the kind of community-driven, data-informed approach Minneapolis needs right now. Uptown is a vital part of our city – rich with history, creativity and potential. These students clearly see that, and their recommendations echo what I’ve heard from residents and small business owners alike: we need more reasons for people to gather, more support for local businesses, and a stronger sense of public safety and vibrancy.
As mayor, I will prioritize economic revitalization through strategic investments, public-private partnerships, and incentives that attract businesses and creators back to places like Uptown. I fully support proposals to expand events, create experiential retail opportunities, and activate our public spaces with arts and music. The vision these students presented is inspiring—and actionable. I look forward to reviewing their findings in detail and working with the City Council to turn smart ideas like these into real progress for our communities.
