What happened near Lake Street and the Midtown Greenway this morning is heartbreaking. Five people were wounded in broad daylight — and once again, families and neighbors are left shaken by violence that has become far too common.
But Minneapolis needs more than new fences to build real safety. We need more solutions.

For years, our city has reacted to tragedy with short-term fixes and press conferences. Putting up barricades may make headlines, but it doesn’t keep people safe tomorrow — and it doesn’t solve the deeper problems that create this cycle of violence.

Minneapolis residents deserve to walk, bike, and gather in their neighborhoods without fear. I’ve built a business focused on public safety innovation, and I’ve seen what works: when you combine community leadership, prevention programs, accountability for those who do harm, and real treatment and housing for people struggling with addiction, neighborhoods don’t just survive — they thrive.

We cannot settle for temporary fixes. Minneapolis deserves leadership that is bold enough to confront root causes, innovative enough to deliver results, and committed enough to stand with our communities for the long haul.
