On the DFL Endorsement Revocation
While we recognize that difficult decisions often arise in campaign seasons, we are disappointed in the process that has unfolded around the endorsement. Too many candidates, delegates, volunteers, and community members invested their evenings, weekends, and family time to participate in good faith, only to see their efforts undermined by a process that has felt unstable and untrustworthy.
Our campaign invested over $10,000 in fees, literature, promotional materials, and printing costs to meaningfully engage in the convention process. Those are resources that grassroots campaigns like ours would much rather dedicate to connecting directly with Minneapolis residents, hearing their priorities, and sharing our vision for the future of the city. Instead, we have all been navigating a process that creates unnecessary financial and emotional strain.
But our campaign has always been rooted in moving forward. We are committed to overcoming gridlock and building momentum for our city, and we will not allow this moment to prevent the Democratic Farmer Labor Party that I have been proud to be a part of for my entire life from taking a step backward in trust.
Moving forward, our focus remains clear. We will continue connecting with residents, presenting a positive vision for Minneapolis, and proving that our city can unite behind solutions that serve all of us. Ultimately, it must be the people of Minneapolis who decide who leads our community.
