On August 26

What happened today in South Minneapolis is heartbreaking and unacceptable. A man is dead, six others are injured, and students at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School were forced to shelter in fear as gunfire erupted outside their school in broad daylight. No family should have to live with this level of violence in their neighborhood.

My heart is with the victims, their loved ones, and everyone in this community shaken by this tragedy. We must do more—together—to stop the flow of illegal guns, hold shooters accountable, and invest in the safety and well-being of every Minneapolis neighborhood.

Our city cannot accept this as normal. Let’s treat gun violence with the urgency it deserves and fight every day to make Minneapolis safe for all of us.
